Products and Solutions:
Account Verification & Payments
Featured products: Auth, Balance, Transfer
Whatâs new:
đĄ Multiple ledgers in Transfer: You asked for an easier way to track different fund flows in Transferânow you can! Create multiple ledgers (virtual accounts) and use them in API calls and the Plaid Dashboard.
đ No more refund hold times in Transfer: Refunds now process immediately if you have sufficient available balanceâno extra hold time. Ensure funds are in the ledger that processed the debit transfer to issue a refund.
Whatâs better:
đ Instant Auth is now enabled for 1,000 more financial institutions: More users will be able to seamlessly link their account in less time, which leads to higher conversion rates.
đĄ Support for cash management accounts: Auth now supports cash management accounts from Morgan Stanley, Betterment, and WealthSimple, allowing users to link and initiate payments like a checking or savings account.
đŻ Improved ledger management in the Transfer Dashboard: The dedicated ledger section has improved balance widgets and a table of recent balance events.
Automated balance management with customizable thresholds for deposit/withdrawal sweeps.
Ledger balance report downloads and a new funds_available status for debit sweeps.
Sweeps included in Transfer activity reports with detailed status timestamps.
Transfer Activity reports and CSV exports now filterable by ledger.
Credit Underwriting
Featured products: Consumer Report
Whatâs new:
đĄ New insights for enhanced decisioning: Consumer Report includes new insights such as a count of non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees in the last 30-90 days and a score that predicts whether an account is for primary use.
đȘȘ Identity data in the Base Report: Identity data (like names and addresses) for account owners will now be available in the Base Report. Plaid will no longer return identity data in the Income and Partner Insights products, and the fields will be removed from API responses by June 30, 2025.
đ Date of birth is now required: When creating or updating a user token for Consumer Report, you are required to provide date of birth within the consumer_report_user_identity object. This will enhance Plaidâs identity matching procedures.
Whatâs better:
đ More flexibility when initializing Link: Products from Plaidâs CRA (e.g. Income Insights) can now be included as optional, required_if_supported, or additional_consented_products when initializing Link with Plaid Inc. products. Additionally, when initializing Link with CRA products, you can now specify Plaid Inc. products (e.g., Auth) as optional, required_if_supported, or additional_consented_products.
⥠Reduce latency: When calling /check_report/create, you can specify the products that you want Plaid to generate insights for immediately. Weâll then notify you via the CHECK_REPORT_READY webhook when the insights are ready for you to retrieve.
đ Credit Dashboard: Our no-code dashboard helps you to easily integrate cash flow data into underwriting workflows. Now all consumer reports created via API will be available in the dashboard to streamline your workflows.
Whatâs fixed:
đȘNew API fields: Weâve replaced several fields with new ones that were amended to be plural.
New fields added | Fields to be deprecated by September 30 |
---|---|
Longest_gaps_between_transactions | Longest_gap_between_transactions |
Average_inflow_amounts | Average_inflow_amount |
Average_outflow_amounts | Average_outflow_amount |
Fraud & Risk
Featured products: Identity Verification, Monitor, Beacon, Signal
Whatâs new:
đ Fraud Calibration & Fraud Labeling for IDV: Now you can label fraud in one clickâbecause keeping track of risk decisions should be simple. Bonus: These labels help Plaid to fine-tune fraud detection for your specific business, leading to higher pass rates and fewer false positives.
đ Introducing the Plaid Trust Index for IDV: Risk decisions just got way more intuitive. Instead of drowning in match flags and reason codes, youâll now see:
11 machine-learning-powered risk scores to pinpoint why a user was flagged
A single Trust Index score for a holistic view of user risk
Quick session snapshots so you donât have to scroll through endless reports
New risk percentiles to compare users against the broader fraud landscape
đ Age Estimator: Smarter Fraud Detection: Now introducing Age Estimatorâa new biometric tool to catch major discrepancies between a userâs stated age and their liveness session.
đĄïž Enhanced Liveness & ID Document checks: Weâve added new security measures to make injecting deepfakes and synthetic camera sources into liveness checks and ID document verification a whole lot harder.
Enhanced detection of AI-generated faces & spoofing attempts.
Stronger camera source integrity checks to block manipulated feeds.
More safeguards to keep your verification process real and secure.
Whatâs better:
đĄ Signal and Rules Service now support non-matched manually linked Items via the Signal dashboard, ensuring a smoother risk management experience without custom logic. Starting February 18th, unmatched manual Items return NULL for Signal scores instead of an error.
⥠Why it matters: Clients can evaluate all items in one centralized place. They can also use Signal Rules using available properties like âverification_statusâ with no extra logic. Billing remains fairâcharges apply only when scores are returned or rules are evaluated. See the implementation guide for full details on this and the Signal Rules Service.
đ Better Lighting for Better Selfies: Turns out, a lot of people take their selfie verification in less-than-ideal lighting (think: binge-watching on the couch, sitting in a dimly lit car). Thatâs a problem for accuracyâso we fixed it. Before selfie verification starts, we now check if the lighting is good enough and if itâs too dark, weâll nudge users to adjust the lighting and auto-advance when conditions approve.
Onboarding
Featured products: Link, Layer
Whatâs new:
đČ Android SMS autofill now available for Layer: Previously, SMS autofill was only supported on iOS. Now, Android users can also autofill verification codes, reducing manual steps and improving conversion rates.
Whatâs better:
đĄ Expanded carrier support for Silent Network Authentication (SNA): For Layer, Plaid seamlessly verifies a userâs possession of their mobile device in the background by communicating directly with their mobile carrier. SNA is available now for all mobile devices using AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.
Open Finance
Featured products: Open Finance Suite, New Integrations
Whatâs new:
đ Integration Health (Beta): Data partners can now troubleshoot errors related to their customersâ ability to connect accounts to Plaid apps using our new self-service tool within the Plaid Dashboard. Integration Health (Beta) provides an overview of API success rates with additional data filters to assist in diagnosing specific errors.
đ User Permissions for Data Partner Dashboard: Data Partners can now restrict dashboard access and ensure that only authorized users can perform sensitive actions, such as editing production Core Exchange configurations or accessing Permissions Manager.
đ Consent Revocation Webhooks from PNC: Plaid customers will now know when a user has updated their data sharing preferences on a PNC surface. Listening for these webhooks will enable customers to 1) know that a TAN is invalid prior to actually triggering a transaction that will fail and 2) immediately stop a service for a user that has unlinked their account. For more information, please see the updated Plaid API documentation on this additional feature.
Personal Finance Insights
Featured products: Investments, Transactions, Transactions Sync
Whatâs new:
đ Introducing Investments Move: Say goodbye to manual ACATS/ATON data entry. Investments Move allows you to quickly capture the data needed to facilitate a transfer, reduce your operational complexity, and avoid rejections. Users simply connect their brokerage account via Plaid, and we return the data needed to submit an ACATS/ATON transfer, such as account number, account type, account holder name, holdings data, and DTC codes.
Whatâs better:
đȘ Improved 401k Data & Connectivity for Investments: We've boosted the quality of transaction data for 401k accounts and improved connections to institutions that hold them. More accurate data, smoother connections.
đ Improved Merchant Detection for Transactions: We've added more merchants to our database, improving fill rates and usability of transaction data.

Whatâs better:
