This month’s updates bring improvements across data quality, verification workflows, analytics, and partner integrations. We’ve enhanced employer normalization for verifications, added flexible controls and webhooks in Layer, introduced streamlined fraud reporting, and boosted data completeness and performance for Investments.

Here’s a look at our launches and enhancements from November.

Credit Underwriting

Featured products: Consumer Report

What’s new:

  • 💼 Better employer insights to streamline verifications: We introduced a new income_provider object and enhanced entity matching to make employer and payor data more consistent, accurate, and ready to support employment verification.

  • 🔍 Smarter detection of active income streams: We released a new income_status field that indicates whether an income stream is currently active, inactive, or unknown based on pay frequency and recent transaction activity. This improves accuracy in identifying ongoing income sources, which helps streamline verification workflows and delivers more reliable financial insights.

  • ✅ Data checks before report generation: You’ll now be informed via an error when the extracted data from the financial institution show signs of poor data quality, preventing the generation of an accurate Consumer Report.

What’s better:

  • 🚀 Higher converting Link flow: We added a progress bar to the Link experience for Consumer Report, boosting completion rates by keeping users engaged through the flow.

  • 🚩 Reminder - Prism Data v4 now available: Partner Insights now supports Prism Data’s new v4 scoring model. When generating partner insights via /link/token/create, you’ll be required to specify which model version to use for each product in the prism_versions object within the cra_options object. The prism_products string will also be deprecated soon.

Fraud & Risk

Featured products: Identity Verification, Protect

What’s better:

  • 🕵️ Fraud reporting made simple: Both IDV & Protect customers can now easily submit fraud and incident reports—like first party fraud, synthetic or stolen identity—directly through the API, keeping investigations clean, consistent, and ML-ready.

Onboarding

Featured products: Layer

What’s new:

  • 📬 Introducing SESSION_FINISHED webhook: Layer now supports the SESSION_FINISHED webhook, aligning its behavior with Link. This makes it easier to track session completions using a webhook-based approach without relying on the front-end SDK.

  • 🔒 SSN masking controls: You can now choose whether SSNs are masked or unmasked in the review pane of the Layer flow. This enables you to customize the experience to only show the full SSN when a user is required to verify it

What’s better:

  • 🏦 Preferred institutions configuration: We've added the ability to configure preferred financial institutions in the Layer dashboard. When set, these institutions will appear first in search results and during institution pre-selection, helping guide users toward preferred account types.

  • 🧩 Product consent configuration in Layer dashboard: You can now configure optional, required, and additional consented products directly in the Layer dashboard. This makes it easier to tailor how products are initialized and how OAuth flows behave—without needing to make changes in code.

  • 💻 Desktop UI refinements: We made several refinements to the Layer desktop interface to create a cleaner, more intuitive user experience.

Financial Management

Featured products: Investments

What’s new:

  • 🕘 Timestamps on investment transactions: We’ve added timestamps on investment transactions for some of our largest institutions to help enable advanced reporting and user analytics for active traders dealing in options, futures, and other time-sensitive securities.

What’s better:

  • 📊 Better data to power modern investing experiences: We’ve made major upgrades to our Investments platform to deliver gains in accuracy, conversion, and reliability, powering more seamless investing experiences. This includes:

    • ✅ 99% completeness on securities data

    • ⚡ 85% faster refresh speeds

    • 📈 Higher conversion and engagement across partner integrations

Customer Experience & Platform

Featured products: Plaid Dashboard, Plaid MCP

What’s new:

  • 🔑 Unlocking more ways to explore your data with Premium Analytics: Premium support clients now get deeper performance insights in the dashboard. Link analytics charts are now filterable by geography, institution, device type, link customization, and product, making it easier to instantly spot trends and move faster, right in the Plaid Dashboard.

What’s better:

  • 🤖 Plaid Dashboard MCP Server available in ChatGPT: We launched the Plaid MCP Server with Claude.ai in May 2025, and it’s now available as a custom connector for all paid plans of ChatGPT as well. You can now analyze your Link conversion, report on usage metrics and debug item health right in ChatGPT.

  • 🤖 Bill chatbot just got an upgrade: Bill, our helpful chatbot in the Dashboard support flow, is even better with optimized prompts, new tools to investigate your issues, and UX upgrades. Notably, you can now follow a known issue right from an embedded link in the chat.

Open Finance

Featured products: Data Partner Dashboard, Core Exchange

What’s new:

  • 💻 Open-source Core Exchange reference implementation for data providers: We’ve launched an open-source reference app that makes it easier for data partners to integrate to Plaid’s Core Exchange. Instead of spending weeks navigating specs and setup, partners can now use a ready-to-run example that shows exactly how everything fits together. Built in Node.js, the project includes a working API server, authorization flow, and sample client app—helping partners prototype and go live in minutes.

What’s better:

  • 🏦 Empowering more financial institutions with self-service controls: We expanded the Data Partner Dashboard to give more financial institutions, such as community banks and credit unions, greater autonomy and visibility. Data partners can now self-manage their Plaid presence—fixing connection issues, updating branding, enabling Auth, and more so they can better serve their customers while reducing support burdens.
