What sets LendScore apart

LendScore factors in signals only Plaid can see—like the apps borrowers are connected to—to show you behavior changes in real time.

  • Get insights faster. Access returning borrower scores in under two seconds. New borrowers complete a quick, secure onboarding to share cash flow insights.

  • Get a granular view of applicants. With a 1,000–2,000 score range, you can see risk in finer detail.

  • Approve more borrowers without adding risk. Cash flow data helps you see thin or no-file borrowers traditional credit data can miss.

  • Built for today’s income. Flags signals like non-traditional earnings for a clearer read on borrower ability to repay.

What is Plaid LendScore?

Plaid LendScore is a family of credit risk scores that uses consumer-permissioned financial data and Plaid’s proprietary network insights to help lenders assess a borrower’s likelihood of repayment. It analyzes financial and transaction behavior to identify risk signals that traditional credit data alone may not capture. The family includes a core model, specialized scores optimized for Auto, Short-Term, and Home Lending, and LendScore Arc, which uses a transformer-based model architecture. Every LendScore model is delivered through Plaid’s Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA), with consumers retaining applicable rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

How is LendScore different from traditional credit scores?

Traditional credit scores primarily reflect a borrower’s history with credit. LendScore combines consumer-permissioned cash flow data with Plaid’s proprietary network insights to understand how a borrower earns, spends, saves, manages financial obligations, and interacts across the Plaid Network. This gives lenders an additional view of credit risk based on current financial behavior and broader patterns of financial activity.

Which LendScore is right for my lending use case?

LendScore’s upgraded core model is designed to perform broadly across consumer lending use cases, while specialized scores are optimized for the unique risk dynamics of their respective markets. LendScore Arc uses a transformer-based model architecture and is designed for lenders seeking additional predictive lift and comfortable with greater model complexity. Plaid works with lenders to choose the model that best fits their performance goals and governance requirements.

How can lenders use LendScore in credit decisioning?

Lenders can incorporate LendScore into their existing credit policies to help inform approvals, pricing, credit limits, and other lending decisions. Each model delivers a ready-made credit risk score with standardized reason codes, giving lenders a consistent, explainable signal that can be used alongside traditional credit data and other underwriting criteria.

How does LendScore support explainability, governance, and fair lending?

LendScore is designed with the explainability and controls lenders need to understand, validate, and monitor model performance. Each score includes standardized reason codes to help explain the factors influencing a credit risk assessment, and Plaid evaluates LendScore for fairness throughout model development and testing. Plaid also works with lenders to support their model governance and fair lending requirements.
