This month, we shipped updates that help you move faster and make more confident decisions across payments, credit, onboarding, and open finance. Highlights include API-based bank account verification, expanded cash flow and income insights, early access to new fraud dashboards, and continued improvements to onboarding performance and partner operations.

Here’s a look at what’s new.

Account Verification & Payments

Featured products: Auth, Signal

What’s new:

  • 🚀 Move faster with bank account verification - now via API: Database Auth lets you securely verify accounts and ownership directly against Plaid’s network, now via API.

  • 🛡️ Learn how to predict ACH returns before they happen. Our new Plaid in 3 Minutes explainer shows how Signal Transaction Scores use machine learning to identify low-risk transactions so you can approve more payments and reduce returns.

Credit Underwriting

Featured products: Consumer Report

What’s better:

  • 💰 2,500 more cash flow attributes: Access new cash flow insights to use in model development, providing even more predictive signal for credit risk assessment.

  • 🎁 Enhanced bonus detection for salary income: We improved the identification of one-time and variable bonuses, which reduces income misclassification and gives lenders a clearer view of a borrower’s earnings without disrupting historical income estimates.

Fraud & Risk

Featured products: Identity Verification

What’s new:

  • 📊 Early access to Plaid Protect dashboard: All Identity Verification customers can get a sneak peek of additional fraud insights with the new Protect dashboard (ahead of its general availability release). Access 4 key features:

    • Overview: Search for event conditions and get a snapshot view of all activity from the day.

    • Explore: See a 2 week lookback of all events scored by the Trust Index through an interactive bar chart – complete with filters by various fraud attributes. Add search queries to not only spot fraud patterns, but turn it into a rule in production – speeding up response times to different fraud threats.

    • Configure: Tailor workflows based on various conditions across data source verification, document verification, risk engine results, and more.

    • Rule Groups: Create up to 2 rules groups to detect fraud and enforce policies.

Onboarding

Featured products: Layer

What’s new:

  • 🌍 Location filtering in Layer: You can now customize which U.S. states and territories are eligible during onboarding. You can enable or disable specific locations directly in the dashboard, and Layer will not onboard users who reside in disabled regions. All locations are enabled by default, and no code changes are required.

  • 📝 Introducing PII edit flags: Layer now flags when users update their personal information during a session, like name, address, or date of birth. This gives you added context into the data being shared and greater visibility into user behavior.

What’s better:

  • 📉 Reduced preload latency: We shipped improvements to preload latency for users, especially those on older Android devices. Load times are up to twice as fast in those scenarios, ensuring more consistent performance across devices.

Open Finance

Featured products: Plaid Dashboard

What’s better:

  • 🔄 Self-serve migration reporting for data partners: Data partners can now proactively schedule and report banking provider migrations directly in the Data Partner Dashboard. By notifying Plaid ahead of a transition, partners can avoid the integration downtime and end-user disruption that often occurs when migrations are reported after the fact. This self-serve capability helps ensure open banking integrations remain stable and operational throughout the migration process.
