One Nevada Credit Union is dedicated to helping Nevadans achieve their financial goals while reinvesting earnings back into the community. With members across Clark, Washoe, and Nye counties, One Nevada has long embraced innovation to make banking more convenient.

But as banking activity increasingly shifted online, One Nevada saw a gap in its online account opening and member onboarding process. Its legacy onboarding platform made it difficult to adapt quickly to new fraud trends, while outdated screening models left the credit union more vulnerable to evolving threats. At the same time, prospective members encountered friction that slowed applications and often left accounts unfunded.

A seamless new member journey

To reimagine onboarding, One Nevada partnered with Glide, whose Digital Origination platform simplified the process and reduced data entry for members. Glide's integration with Plaid built on that foundation, powering a true digital transformation.

Previously, fraudsters could get through screening with just a few data points—such as name, Social Security number, and date of birth. With Plaid Identity Verification, One Nevada added robust authentication that goes beyond traditional checks—evaluating phone number, device, and email fraud signals, as well as triggering extra validation when needed. Once authenticated, applicants can instantly and securely fund their new accounts from the comfort of their own home, eliminating delays that previously left them inactive or vulnerable to fraud.

“The result is a digital-first onboarding journey that is simple, intuitive, and secure. Applicants select their products, have their identity confirmed, instantly fund their account, and set up login credentials—all within two minutes,” states Cindy Vela, Vice President of Digital at One Nevada.

Real results, real impact

Since launching Glide's digital account opening and onboarding, One Nevada has seen measurable impact. In the past, nearly 20% of new accounts closed within 30 days due to fraud or lack of funding. Today, 80% of accounts are auto-approved in a process that takes less than two minutes—and more than 95% of new accounts are fully funded and enrolled in digital banking from day one.

Moreover, the combination of Plaid Identity Verification and required account funding has made it far more difficult for fraudsters to get through. As a result, account opening fraud dropped by 50% in the first six months alone.

The partnership doesn’t stop at onboarding. One Nevada also uses Plaid within Glide’s onboarding portal to make it easy for members to link external accounts securely. Looking ahead, the credit union sees even greater opportunity in Plaid’s expanding payments capabilities.
