Plaid’s first Community Town Hall

2020 has been a key year for fintech–a year of challenges, along with growth and opportunity. I wake up excited every day knowing that we’re working to build a bright future alongside developers and entrepreneurs to contribute to better outcomes for everyone.

I feel strongly that building the future of fintech starts with investing in our community of developers to spark new ideas and innovation. That’s why we started thinking about creating a space for this community–virtually for now–to share ideas and discuss big issues and policies affecting the industry today.

On October 28, we hosted our first-ever community town hall, where we shared our insights on the state of fintech as well as a few highlights of what we’ve been working on and what lies ahead.

Here’s what we discussed:

  • Our Community: There has never been a better time for the fintech developer community to unite. We talked about trends we’ve seen in the industry over the past year as well as some insights and opportunities now and beyond.

  • Behind the API: We took a look back at products we’ve built this year from data insights powering new use cases, developer tools to a fresh Plaid Link design and provided a sneak peek for what’s ahead.

  • The Fintech Effect: Lastly, now more than ever, fintech is top of mind among consumers, small businesses, banks, and policymakers. We shared how big of an impact financial technology is having on the financial ecosystem from emerging use cases to policy insights to COVID-19 relief.

What’s next?

Our plan is to host events like these regularly to share the latest news from Plaid, actionable insights from the industry, and most importantly–create a forum so that we can learn from each other and continue bringing fintech services to people everywhere. While we’re not able to connect in-person now, I enjoyed meeting some of you and answering your questions live at our town hall. I can’t emphasize this enough: your feedback is critical to helping us build better products.

Like I said at the event, my commitment to you is to make it better. We’re going to continue investing in tools that help you grow, whether you are just starting out or scaling your business. This town hall is one step of many that we’ll take to continue bringing our community together.

Join us in inventing tomorrow. We all have a stake in building the future of fintech and I am excited that we can all play a part in doing this together.
