What we shipped in 2025
2025 was a defining year for financial services. Across the ecosystem, we saw renewed momentum, from the acceleration of open banking to the broader use of alternative data in underwriting, alongside major shifts driven by AI.
We’re meeting this moment with new products and capabilities designed to support our customers as the market evolves. As fraud grows more sophisticated and interest rates ease, driving increased demand for credit, more companies are turning to Plaid for more than connectivity alone. They’re looking for deeper and more robust insights and better tools to understand risk earlier and make faster, more confident decisions across credit underwriting, payments and fraud. That’s where we’ve focused our efforts: delivering the attributes, signals, and infrastructure our customers need to grow responsibly while managing risk.
We also leaned deeper into AI, making it easier than ever to build with Plaid, manage integrations, and power smarter, more personalized experiences across the financial ecosystem.
Last year, we shipped 224 product launches, feature updates, and platform improvements. Here’s a snapshot of what we shipped:
🔌 Network Connectivity
Real-time and reliable data access to power your apps and services.
What’s new:
More data coverage: Access data from 200+ more institutions including (but not limited to): Ramp, Gemini, Instacart (Shopper Rewards Card), Rent App, Gusto, TIAA, CNB, and HSBC Commercial.
AI-enabled integration fixes: New agentic workflows can detect and triage broken bank integrations automatically, cutting non-API fix times by 98% and cutting down on support load.
Simpler API migrations: A new migration tool that moves eligible Items to OAuth without requiring users to log in again.
What’s better:
Item longevity: We increased Item longevity by 4% in the first 90 days for Transactions, Liabilities, and Investments.
Item repairs: With the scale of the Plaid Network, 52% of broken Items are repaired by another app or service provider in the network automatically, so you don’t need to initiate Update Mode as often to restore data access.
API downtime: Outage-related downtime across Plaid’s top 50 data providers dropped by 50%, improving consistency for critical user flows.
Integration repairs: We made repairs to 6,121 institution integrations to deliver consistent data access with fewer disruptions.
More institutions enabled for streamlined account linking: We increased eligible traffic for streamlined account linking by 12%.
🚀 Onboarding & Conversion
Onboard and convert more users with Plaid’s industry leading account linking solution.
What’s new:
Link design refresh: Added a new progress bar and a consolidated pane that brings consent and phone verification into one clear, streamlined step. This resulted in improved latency, up to 5x faster when Link is pre-initialized and a 5% relative lift in conversion across the Plaid platform.
Expanded availability to Plaid Layer: Added Extended Autofill, a major upgrade that brings instant, compliant onboarding to most U.S. consumers, whether they’ve used Plaid before or not, all in one unified Layer experience.
🛡️ Fraud & Risk
Built for fraud teams tackling first-party fraud, account takeover, and synthetic identities.
What’s new:
Next-generation fraud intelligence platform: Launched Plaid Protect, a fraud intelligence platform trained on data from billions of devices and hundreds of millions of linked bank accounts. Our latest production model, Trust Index (Ti2), includes deeper insights, including transaction data and user graph insights.
Updates to identity verification: Added new defense-in-depth capabilities to Plaid IDV, including detection of GenAI-powered deepfakes and synthetic video attacks using expanded liveness checks, facial deduplication, and age estimation.
Why it matters:
In head-to-head testing, Plaid IDV caught 47% more fraud than a leading identity provider.
📊 Credit Underwriting
For lenders who are looking for more robust cash flow data for better underwriting and risk scoring.
What’s new:
Deeper cash flow insights: Added new attributes like NSF frequency, primary account indicators, and improved income categorization.
First-of-its-kind credit risk score: Launched Lendscore (LS1), combining cash flow data with unique attributes and insights from the Plaid Network to improve risk decisioning.
Mortgage-ready VOA report: Shipped a new verification of assets report to streamline home lending workflows.
Easier integrations: Expanded partnerships with FICO, Experian, Xactus and others so lenders can use Plaid data in tools they already rely on.
Why it matters: LS1 delivers up to 25% better predictive performance than traditional credit scores alone.
💸 Account Verification & Payments
A suite of tools to enable modern bank payments so you can fund accounts, and move money seamlessly.
