The Remember Me - Consumer team is building Plaid’s next generation of direct-to-consumer products. Our mission is to help people feel more confident and secure in managing their financial lives through intuitive, high-trust experiences powered by Plaid’s network.

This team is developing a new consumer-facing security and bank account monitoring product focused on proactive fraud detection and financial account visibility. It represents an important step in expanding Plaid’s direct-to-consumer offerings. We are a small, fast-moving team focused on 0→1 development, owning the experience end-to-end from backend systems to user-facing flows.

As the TLM for the Consumer team, you will split your time between hands-on technical leadership and people management.

You will be accountable for the technical foundation of the product, leading the design and evolution of systems that monitor financial accounts and power user-facing experiences. You will drive key architectural decisions, raise engineering standards through design reviews and mentorship, and help the team balance rapid iteration with long-term system health.

At the same time, you will build and lead a strong engineering team. You will create clarity around goals, support individual growth, and hold a high bar for ownership and delivery. You will work closely with Product and Design to take complex, ambiguous problems and turn them into simple, trustworthy experiences for users.

Responsibilities

Lead technical design and execution for consumer-facing security and monitoring systems.
Own backend architecture, data flows, and identity and authentication integrations.
Hire, manage, and develop a team of engineers.
Maintain a high bar for security, reliability, and operational excellence.
Partner cross-functionally to align product goals and technical strategy.
Use data and experimentation to improve onboarding, engagement, and user value.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects.
2+ years of engineering management experience.
Experience building consumer-facing productsStrong user empathy and ability to balance technical tradeoffs with product outcomes.
Track record of building and growing high performing engineering teams (either as an engineer or a manager).
Experience leading 0→1 product development.

$216,000.00 - $367,200.00 per year

The target base salary for this position ranges from $216,000 year to $367,200/year in Zone 1. The target base salary will vary based on the job's location.

Our geographic zones are as follows:

Zone 1 - San Francisco / New York City / Seattle

Zone 2 - Los Angeles / Washington DC / Austin / Boston / Sacramento / San Diego

Zone 3 - Atlanta / Portland / Chicago / Philadelphia / Denver / Miami / Dallas / Raleigh

Zone 4 - All other US cities

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission (if applicable), equity and benefits. The pay range shown on each job posting is the minimum and maximum target for new-hire salaries. Actual pay may be higher or lower depending on factors like skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
