We are expanding our integration with Perplexity, the AI-powered answer engine. Consumers can now connect a wider variety of accounts, beyond investments, to access personalized financial insights and answers all in one central place.

More than a decade ago, Plaid started by linking bank accounts to apps to give consumers more access and control over their financial data. As we shift toward intelligent finance, we’re seeing companies across our network incorporate AI, layered on top of Plaid-powered financial data. Consumers benefit from hyper-personalized, dynamic perspectives of their finances with minimal effort to get started.

Computer delivers a personalized financial picture, in one place

Our growing partnership with Perplexity marks a paradigm shift in financial services. Now, all users can securely connect their accounts through Plaid into a single, secure hub–adding checking, savings, and loan accounts to the list of connections–and turn their data into an interactive experience. Personal finance doesn’t have to be intimidating. Instead of piecing together information across institutions, users can ask questions about their finances and get clear answers that help them feel more confident.

Using Perplexity Computer with Plaid, Pro and Max users can:

  • Link credit cards to track spending by category with full detail of their transactions

  • Connect mortgages, auto loans, and student loans to monitor their balances and payment history

  • Combine bank, investment, and other accounts for a complete view of their net worth

Perplexity Computer conducts a more sophisticated analysis. You can use natural language to get a visual picture of your spending activity over time, creating helpful tools like a net worth calculator, customized budget tracker, and debt payoff planner–among other ideas.

Users can view a detailed analysis of their finances across accounts and institutions

Users get real-time access to intelligent assistance and a financial prompt library to spark inspiration.

You can prompt queries like:

  • “Connect my checking account, my brokerage account, and my student loans, then build a net worth dashboard that updates daily."

  • “Using my transactions, develop a monthly budget tracker with categories for rent, groceries, dining, and entertainment.”

  • “Using my credit card and loan balances, interest rates, and minimum payments, create a debt payoff plan.”

“AI is only as useful as the data it’s built on. This is especially true for financial services, which is really context heavy. As people experiment with AI-native financial management, trust is essential. Plaid delivers on the industry reliability and trust we require.”

- Dmitry Shevelenko, Chief Business Officer at Perplexity

Making intelligent finance a reality

AI-driven financial experiences depend on purpose-built infrastructure, including access to real-time data and the context behind it. To provide meaningful answers, agents and chat interfaces need a holistic view of a user’s financial picture.

Today, more than half of Americans with a bank account have used Plaid, which powers nearly one million new account connections each day. Through Plaid's secure infrastructure, companies like Perplexity can access user-permissioned financial data and build products that help people better understand and manage their money.

We’re partnering with companies like Perplexity and many others in AI and digital finance as they create new, deeply intelligent financial experiences. If you’re interested in building with Plaid, we’d love to connect and explore how we can support your team.
