TECH TALK: Javelin & Take Profit Trader
Strengthening fraud detection
Javelin and Take Profit Trader share how layered identity, device, transaction, and behavioral signals can help detect fraud with less customer friction.

Fraud doesn’t happen in isolation
Identity fraud losses reached $27.3 billion in 2025, up just 1% from the year before. But beneath that relatively flat headline, victim counts increased across every major identity fraud category as fraudsters shifted tactics and used AI and automation to scale their attacks.
The challenge is that those attacks rarely reveal themselves through a single signal. Identity, device, transaction, and behavioral data each tell part of the story. Connecting them, while adding broader network context, can help businesses spot suspicious patterns and respond differently to different types of fraud.
In this Tech Talk, Plaid’s Pedro Sanzovo, Javelin Strategy & Research’s Jennifer Pitt, and Take Profit Trader’s Shane Sixsmith break down four major fraud types—new account fraud, account takeover, scams, and first-party fraud—and discuss practical ways businesses can strengthen their defenses without creating unnecessary friction for good customers.
