Welcome
Plaid Exchange Documentation Portal.
Introduction
All new data partners not yet integrated into Plaid Exchange are encouraged to use Plaid's newest Open Finance API, the Core Exchange API, instead. Core Exchange is fully compatible with FDX integrations and is the future of Plaid's Open Finance APIs.
Thank you for building with the Plaid Exchange API specification from Plaid! When you create a Plaid Exchange API and allow Plaid to connect, your users will be able to connect their accounts within your organization to their other financial services: payment services, budgeting apps, and many more. It enables your users to grant access to their account data with the 8,000+ applications powered by Plaid.
This API specification facilitates building of the following endpoints:
/oauth2/auth
: OAuth 2.0 Auth flow/oauth2/token
: OAuth 2.0 Token flow/users/{user_id}
: Retrieve account and identity information/users/{user_id}/transactions
: Retrieve transaction history
Data connectivity benefits
Plaid network
Once your Plaid Exchange API has successfully been validated by Plaid, your organization will appear in the list of available apps in Plaid Link. See the Plaid Link Demo for a visual walkthrough of an end-user's experience.
Security flow
Plaid uses your OAuth 2.0 flow to allow your users to connect their financial accounts to their other financial applications. Industry standards such as mTLS and PKCE are also supported in the current version.
