FinRise founders will be connected with VCs, accelerators, and service providers so that they can build their network, access services, and learn about critical steps in the earliest stages of company building

Startup acceleration

Founders will participate in a virtual bootcamp and ongoing curriculum led by Plaid and external experts on topics including communications and storytelling, engineering best practices, and navigating policy and regulatory landscapes

Who should apply?

The FinRise program is intended for BIPOC-founded technology startups. Applicants must be 18+, applying on behalf of a U.S.-based, BIPOC majority-owned business incorporated in the United States. 

Best suited for our first program, running February - June 2022:

  • Startups with sufficient capital to operate their startups full-time, potentially preparing for a Seed or Series A funding round 

  • Have a full-time founder team

  • Have product(s) with meaningful customer validation but not yet in GA


Applying for our second program, running July - December 2022:

  • Startups with Seed funding or sufficient capital to operate their startups full-time, potentially preparing for a Series A or Series B funding round

  • Have a founder team and at least 1 full-time employee

  • Product(s) released to general availability (GA) or advanced Beta with meaningful customer traction

Regardless of which cohort you are applying to, all applicants must be technology startups headquartered in the US. Selected. At least one founder must be available to join all program elements, additional teammates will have the opportunity to participate. In order to ensure that Plaid can provide meaningful advice and mentorship, companies should leverage financial data in their products, service or operations.

You can apply for Plaid’s FinRise program at Plaid.com/FinRise. Cohort-specific timing can be found below:

Cohort 1:

  • Application opens December 1st - December 31st

  • Cohort announced end of January

  • Program kicks with virtual bootcamp February 1st - 4th 

  • Program concludes on June 30th

Cohort 2:

  • Application opens May 4th - May 31st

  • Cohort announced mid-July

  • Program kicks with virtual bootcamp July 19th - 22nd 

  • Program concludes on December 16th


How will Plaid select participants?

Applicants that meet the criteria outlined above will be considered by a panel of Plaid leaders across the company. In order to ensure that Plaid can provide meaningful advice and mentorship, companies that leverage financial data in their product, service or operations, or show an interest in leveraging this technology in the future will be given preference.
