Software Engineer - Product Backend (Investments)

United States | Full-time

We build simple yet innovative consumer products and developer APIs that shape how everybody interacts with money and the financial system.

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products. Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo, SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Salt Lake City, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam. #LI-Remote

Investments represent one of Plaid’s core and impactful products. We take in millions of messy raw investment data  from thousands of banks in unique formats, standardize them into a single structured schema, and then enrich them with both derived and inferred insights. We employ a mix of traditional and machine learning techniques, and take pride in solving non-deterministic problems. The fruit of our labor is the FinTech industry default API for accessing users’ investment holdings data.

As a member of the Investments team, you’ll collaborate with PMs to build out our API and bank integrations, and engineers across the company on a range of projects and products. You’ll have the opportunity to pick up multiple languages and technologies, you’ll have the space to explore unsolved problems, and your work will impact millions of customers by bringing order to the chaotic world of financial data.
