The Payment Risk team is responsible for developing a suite of risk products for Plaid’s customers to manage risk in bank payments. This team delivers sophisticated risk predictions as well as direct signals through public APIs that customers use to understand and manage risk on their payment flows.

As a Software Engineer on the payment risk team, you will work on developing and improving risk products used by Plaid’s customers. You will develop new product functionalities, and improve scalability and reliability of our services. You will also work on tooling and infrastructure that facilitate the development of risk features and models used in our risk products. Your work will contribute to the rapid growth of a suite of innovative products.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a cross-functional team to understand product requirements and legal constraints to build next-generation bank payment risk products. 
  • Build products with real impact: your work will touch tens of millions of end-users, the best applications in FinTech, and major financial institutions.
  • Develop highly available, reliable and low-latency systems.
  • Develop tools and infrastructure for quick iteration on machine learning features and models.
  • Passionate about applying Machine Learning to real-world problems, especially financial fraud.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of software engineering experience.
  • End-to-end process ownership and customer obsession.
  • Bonus, experience in building production infrastructure for machine learning feature engineering or model training, evaluation, and deployment.

Target base salary for this role is between $143,640 and $197,640 per year. Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location.
