Experienced Data Scientist - Payments Transfer

The Credit & Payment Data Science team is responsible for serving Plaid’s product analytics, experimentation and modeling needs for Credit and Payment Risk/Transfer GBTs. Data scientists can either work on projects internal to the Data Science team or be embedded in teams across the Plaid organization, to enable and accelerate those teams’ data science efforts.


Product Analytics & Data Science Responsibilities:

  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and data presentation to find insights for customer engagement with our API products
  • Build the framework and monitoring tools to define and track growth and risk metrics for payment transfer ( Guaranteed ACH) processing (provide reporting that helps customers understand G ACH return performance over time (and lift SIgnal provides) 
  • Build the ACH return decision strategy for payment transfer ( Guaranteed ACH) leveraging machine learning models and features
  • Validate and evaluate machine learning model performance and training data quality 
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, product designers, and other data scientists to develop and implement testing framework for external data products and experiments for new product hypotheses
  • Inform and influence product and engineering teams through your data analysis and presentations

Customer Support and Growth Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support and partner with the product growth team to effectively promote high customer conversion, product adoption, and retention experiences.
  • Create documentation and customer success enablement materials with a heavy focus on machine learning applications

What excites us

  • 5+ years of industry experience in a Product Data Science role
  • Experience articulating product questions, querying and processing large datasets with SQL,  and using statistics and data visualization tools to arrive at a finding
  • Experience building credit or fraud risk strategies for lending or payment products at a financial service company
  • Experience in working with machine learning models (e.g., regression, tree based models)
  • Proficiency doing quantitative analysis with python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or a closely related field
