Content Design Manager

San Francisco | Full-time

We bring ideas to life, serve as the voice of our users, and create a meaningful and unified Plaid experience.

We believe that the way people interact with their finances will drastically improve in the next few years. We’re dedicated to empowering this transformation by building the tools and experiences that thousands of developers use to create their own products.  Plaid powers the tools millions of people rely on to live a healthier financial life. We work with thousands of companies like Venmo and SoFi, several of the Fortune 500, and many of the largest banks to make it easy for people to connect their financial accounts to the apps and services they want to use. Plaid’s network covers 11,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in New York, Salt Lake City, Washington D.C., London and Amsterdam.

About our team
The design team at Plaid is made up of product designers, design systems designers, brand designers, researchers, and content designers who work with our cross-functional partners to create Plaid’s products.

What you’ll do here
We’re looking for an experienced content design manager to join our Privacy and Link teams—which, together, help millions of people access thousands of financial services by providing bank-to-app connectivity. You’ll play a critical role in creating a clear, cohesive, content-led experience as users navigate how to connect—or disconnect—their valuable financial data from the apps they choose. You’ll team up with product designers, product managers, researchers, and engineers to envision the future of Link, our flagship consumer-facing product, as well as a new product that gives Plaid users total control over their financial data privacy. You’ll also oversee the development of our content system and the opportunity to hire and grow a first-class content practice within a growing design function.

What excites you

  • Building a delightful and easy experience to help millions of people access the tools and services they want to take control of their financial lives
  • Translating concepts that are often new and abstract into simple, clear content
  • Closely collaborating with designers, product managers, researchers, engineers, and marketers from planning through execution
  • Being a tireless advocate for the users and user-centered processes
  • Operating autonomously and taking control of the impact you’ll have by making your own prioritization calls
  • Being able to see the big picture from a systems perspective and then zooming in to solve specific problems with craft and nuance
  • Helping product and content designers grow their careers
  • Joining a world-class design team and helping to shape its culture

What excites us

  • 2+ years of managing a content design or UX writing team
  • Experience leading complex, multi-phase content strategies to create user-centric product experiences
  • Being impact-oriented, and knowing how to measure the success of your work through KPIs
  • Applying systems thinking to create and govern scalable, global content standards
  • Craft and attention to detail—when our customers and end users are trusting us with financial data, they deserve a high-quality, well-designed experience from start to finish
  • Strong collaboration skills to work side by side with product designers and cross-functional partners
  • Experience mentoring other content designers and product designers and helping them hone their craft
  • 8+ years experience as a content designer, content strategist, or UX writer writing for digital-first consumer experiences
  • Comfort using design software (e.g., Figma, InVision, Sketch) to present solutions visually, lead collaboration sessions, etc.
