Plaid + Stripe ACH
Updated on April 13, 2020
Plaid and Stripe are excited to announce a new way to authenticate and accept ACH payments. With Plaid Link’s instant ACH authentication and Stripe’s ACH API, you can start accepting payments in minutes rather than business days — all without ever handling your customers’ account and routing numbers.
How it works
Traditional ACH payments require time-consuming micro-deposits to verify that the user actually owns the bank account they provide. With micro-deposits, users must manually enter their account and routing number, an error-prone process that’s hard on users and forces businesses to pass through sensitive information on their own systems.
With the Plaid and Stripe partnership, this process has been reimagined from the ground up. Using Plaid Link, your users can instantly and securely link their bank accounts. This eliminates the need for manually entering account and routing numbers and then waiting for micro-deposits. Once a user is connected with Plaid, you’ll automatically receive a token from Stripe which can immediately be used for payments via Stripe’s ACH API.
Once a user is connected, the entire suite of Plaid products is at your disposal. From protecting against NSF fees and overdrafts using the Balance product, fighting ACH fraud with the Risk product, or streamlining the KYC process with the Info product – it's easy to access multiple endpoints once a user is connected.
